Configuring Apache Tomcat On Your UNIX Box.

I recently started working on writing a High Availability agent in the Sun Cluster.So one of the first steps i thought was to implement failover.I chose the Apache Tomcat web server for this.
I first downloaded JDK for the the java support it needed.I obtained the JDK package from the sun website for free.I then went to the Home page of Apache Tomcat, (by googling of course) and downloaded the apache tomcat.It was around 6 MB.I downloaded it to my Desktop.I then had to set my environment variables.

To set my environment variable for JRE_HOME, i ran the following

#JRE_HOME=/usr/jdk/jdk{version}

Just some random questions in my head, you know the ones that keep throbing, just like Muhammed Ali’s jabs…his continuous jabs…which eventually used to wear his opponents down.Finally, these questions defeated me, and I just had to do some thinking and find some answers…I decided to put these questions and answers, right here on this wordpress page of mine. You may agree with me, you may not, but atleast i get the satisfaction of putting forth my views.Here are these “random” questions of mine…

1. What influences the Indian Public the most ?

2. Who advertises terrorism ?

3. Who ends up “dividing” the people of United India ?

All the answers head in the same direction, the ANSWER, PLAIN AND SIMPLE, couldn’t be clearer.

Become A Climate Hero

•June 5, 2009 • Leave a Comment

A highlight of this year’s World Environment Day is the launch of the Climate Heroes which supportsindividuals who are undertaking exceptional personal feats, high-profile expeditions, and other acts of environmental activism to demonstrate their commitment and to raise awareness for one simple idea: Your planet needs You! Their projects focus on environmental “hot topics” like CO2 output, finding smart solutions to beat waste and tree planting.

UNEP collaborates with these Climate Heroes to help inspire and motivate people to unite to combat climate change. Through their acts, and the attention they generate, they give voice to individuals and organizations across the globe that care about the state of our planet and want to see real change and real commitment.

Ultimately, the Climate Heroes call on each of us to do what we can: from adopting the simplest habits like turning off running water when we are brushing our teeth, to organizing a public or workplace event for World Environment Day or taking a stand and participating in the Seal the Deal! on-line petition. And all of their missions invite participation from those of us who want to get involved and act more.

Through our united efforts, we can all be Climate Heroes and we can make a difference.

Here are some of their inspiring examples:

Bing, the new search engine from Microsoft Corp., doesn’t return any result for one of the most searched terms from India: sex. However, if you tell the search engine that you’re from the USA, or any one of the European countries (users can easily change country without even logging in), and bingo, several links are returned. If you say you are from China or an Arabian country, or Hong Kong or Singapore, again, no luck.

According to Google, insights for Search, “sex” has been a high-volume search string from India, ranking above 60 on a scale of 0 to 100 since 2004. The volume has been growing and in 2008. It was among the most-searched terms on Google, a search engine that demonstrates no inhibitions in returning links related to sex, much like its competitor Yahoo!
